  1. Thank you for your post! It is inspiring to see how many people who are not big names are still able to have a serious impact in their area of expertise. This is empowering for me because by no means to I expect to become famous for being an electrical engineer. Yet, I hope to accomplish important things that future generations will benefit from.

Likewise, I feel that Ms Parker Pope is one such person. Her name definitely does not ring a bell but reading her biography, I see how important of a person she is in the field of women's health. She has written books on a broad array of topics which are important to today's American woman from things like constructive relationships to hormone replacement therapy to smoking. Accordingly, her works are a good resource for women's health in general but also or community health because the central role that women play in it as well as specific issues relating to women's health. So she is remarkable in that she is able to have a broad and diverse area of expertise which is atyptical nowadays when most people are all about specialization.

  3. Yen,
The person you chose to talk about is very successful and I am surprised that a simple blogger could have amounted to such great accomplishments! Getting the president’s attention is definitely something to be proud of and I cannot believe all of the works she has made. It is always great to see scholars being recognized for helping others and making a difference in the population’s health. I look forward to reading her publications about long-term health and happiness. Great blog post!

  4. Hello,

Your chosen scholar is so diverse! She has been in major publications as well as written her own books! This is a clear example of scholarly work because she has not limited herself to one area. I can't imagine what her daily schedule looks like or how she can even find time to do everything. I found it interesting how her books were more about her softer side like relationships. She was also recognized by such an important figure, our president. She is clearly taking the world by storm. I will be on the look out for her name in the New York Times.
